Contractor: The housing official came to the flat twice to take pictures of the pillar. He told me that an engineer is needed to certify that the pillar is removable. So I went to asked the engineer and was quoted $500 for the service.
Authorities: My colleague (who is conveniently on MC) says he didn't tell your contractor to hire an engineer. Also, your contractor didn't make an application for the removal of the pillar. We were still reviewing if the pillar is removable, but were told by your contractor that you no longer wanted to remove the pillar.
Meanwhile, permit to raise the kitchen floor takes another month. More than a month!
I am jinxed and annoyed. I want this over and done with. Please.
